Prophecy, Fortune and Bad Luck

This is a sign I saw at the Buddhist temple. I really wanted to have some good fortune and I really wanted to get rid of a streak of bad luck, I have been having for nearly 2 1/2 decades. And so I put (small amount) of money. I see this little trick did not work :-( I see no change in my fortune. Nor do I see any change for better when it comes to bad luck.
Many years ago, I went to a Hindu temple at San Antonio. I talked to the priest for awhile. He spoke the same language as I do and he came from the same state and city as I do. He told me I should attend Sani Pooja the following week. Hindus do Sani Pooja to get rid of bad luck and they do pray earnestly to Lord Sani so he is pleased with them and would not visit them.
As I was having a streak of bad luck for over two decades, I decided to attend the Sani Pooja at the temple (90 miles from where I live). I was told to be earnest in my Pooja. As I really wanted to get rid of my bad luck, I did what I was told. I attended the Sani Pooja. I noticed most people who where there were doctors. I don't know how much they paid individually for the Pooja, I paid the minimum that was on the list :-)
Lord Sani is the God of obstacles. His sole objective is to punish people. Generally he does so for a max of seven years. If the person is really cursed, it could prolong for another seven years. Never in the known history, a person gets it for third seven years! As my bad luck had entered the fourth period, I decided to pray the Lord and have my bad luck removed.
Needless to say, my Pooja did not work. It probably did not work as I was cheapskate. My streak of bad luck has not stopped .. After my earnest Pooja, and in no time, I was called all sorts of names by the Lord of Chattanooga Hills. And the Lord of Sivanagar Hills. And by somebody on behalf of The Lady of Holasur! Some of it happened at my very own home that I called my fortress! And to this day it has not stopped. I am now in the fourth seven year period.
May be I should have paid as much as those doctors who sponsored the Pooja. You know money pleases everyone! Even gods! I was stingy :-) And the Gods blessed me that way :-) I wish I had more I could spare and please all those Gods.
May be if all those GODS had blessed me, I could have spent more on them. Kindness begets kindness. The GODS were not kind to me. How can I spend more money on THEM? May be I should have donated that to some kind of charity and shown some kindness to fellow human beings and not expect anything in return. Just be happy that I was fortunate enough that I could help somebody .. even in a small measure.
Come to think of it, there is no good luck .. there is no bad luck. It is all a matter of give and take (Kamma if you like to call it). Kindness begets kindness and so do evil. You do your best in being honest and being kind and not worry about good luck or bad luck.
And certainly if you want to donate to temple, please do so .. but not to get rid of bad luck. You want to do so because it is a place of peace.
